About Edelweiss

Your Hosts

Chuck & Deanne are your hosts. They are California natives who met in Park City, Utah in 1971. Both were skiers and enjoyed the resort atmosphere. Both were ski instructors at Park West, (now known as The Canyons). They married in 1971 and today have 6 children and 10 grandchildren. They moved to Salt Lake City in 1991, after 21 years of living in Park City. After their last child left home, they decided to move to Eden to get away from the crowds of SLC and purchased this home in 2013 with the idea to turn it into an Inn. Chuck & Deanne love the outdoors, the mountains, the snow and the solitude. Chuck skis at the local resorts as well as Park City where he meets up with the kids and grandkids. In the summer Chuck will be out on his mountain bike on the local trails, kayaking or rock climbing at the local crags.

Edelweiss Inn

Our home was built by Max Bierwolf in 1978. He had envisioned a European style lodge with a separate owner’s apartment. Max built the home mostly by himself with very little help from anyone. Unfortunately, Max suffered a stroke before he could finish the home and the home sat vacant for some 10 years. The only occupants were squirrels, birds and a family of raccoons. The house fell into disrepair and was deemed by most contractors to be un-salvageable.

In 2013, the James’ decided to take on the project and basically re-built and restored the entire home in a Swiss Chalet style. It took 6 years and a lot of work to bring the home to its completion. We are now proud to open it up to the public; our Edelweiss Inn in all its glory.
